Well, you do not have to -set obs-, it is done for you. The variable
generated by the command is called "xlgn", and you can -rename- it to any
legal Stata variable name you want...

Thanks for your help! could you tell me how return that 500 observations
to a variable like we do for normal distribution:
set obs 500
gen x1=rnormal()
