Btw, -keep- would only be applicable for a dataset already in memory, not one to be loaded.

Dear listers,
We have a large dataset with lots of variables and it will grew even larger
in the future (more variables). People might have trouble read it into
Stata. Would -keep- solve that problem (do Stata not read variables at all
that are not mentioned in the -keep- statement?
