Hua`s earlier advice

perfectly, though, both under Windows 7 and Vista.

Thanks to Jeph for warning us Windows XP Pro users in advance about the
horrible prospects waiting for us, if and when we upgrade to Windows 7
or even Windows Vista. I have just had to migrate to a new hard disk
because the old one failed. A lot of the manual work involved in this
exercise was altering default file associations to refer to my chosen
text editor TextPad, which I use to open Stata do-files and many other
file types, and which is described (with other text editors used with
Stata) at
http://fmwww.bc.edu/repec/bocode/t/textEditors.html
It is helpful to know that (unfortunately) it will be even worse in
Windows 7, and that (fortunately) there seems to be something that we
can do about it.
Best wishes
Roger
