Yes, I did look at the alternative ways, and for standard OLS regressions I got exactly the same result as from the formula, but I was not able to apply the conatraints to the fully interacted model, I was getting a message:
"constraints insufficient for unique estimate
redundant or inconsistent constraints "
But I am all set now with this formula
di "The residual sum of squares: " ///
(`e(rmse)')^2*`e(df_r)' "."
Thank you for help!!!!

Have you looked at alternative ways of computing the statistic (http://www.stata.com/support/faqs/stat/chow.html)?

Dear Stata listers, I need to do a Chow test for two constrained linear regressions, but the output of cnsreg doesn't have Sum of Squares of Errors in it. Why is that?
Thank you. Yevgeniya
