Thanks to Kit Baum an update of the -fmlogit- package is now
available from SSC. To install type in Stata
-ssc install fmlogit, replace-
-fmlogit- fits a model for multiple dependent variables which
are proportions. For example a dataset may contain data on
multiple cities, and for each city information is collected
on the proportion of their budget which is spent on their
bureacracy, social support, education, security, etc. The
-fmlogit- package can be used to estimate the effect of
explanatory variable (e.g. the political orientation of the
governing coalition) on the composition of the budget.
New in this update is the -dfmlogit- program, this will
produce marginal effects and their standard errors. In
principle these could also be computed using -margins- (or
-mfx- for earlier versions of Stata), except that in many
cases these programs experienced difficulties computing the
standard errors. (For those who are interested in the
technical details: -dfmlogit- solves this by replaceing
the numerical derivatives with analytical derivatives while
using the delta method.)
