st: extending limit of stubwidth

i am a user of stata9se and would like to extend stub width beyond 40.

. table institute, stubwidth(100)
stubwidth must be between 4 and 40
r(198);

further, how can i incorporate "sort" in this case?

. table institute, stubwidth(40) sort
option sort not allowed
r(198);
