If you have 32 bit XP, more than 3 GB won't improve matters. Get a 64 bit
machine (and 64 bit Stata/64 bit OS) and you break free from these
constraints...

Subject: st: Setting Memory
Hi All,
I'm having some issues with setting the memory in STATA v9.0, running
on a Dell Optiplex 745 with Windows XP.
I'm trying to load a 1.5 GB flat file. I have 3 GB of physical memory
installed. When I attempt to set the memory to 2 GB, I get a "no room
to add more observations" error.
Is there any way that I can force STATA to set the memory at my
desired level or somehow have Windows relinquish memory so that I can
raise the memory level? Or, is the only solution to install more RAM?
Thanks,
Sam
