Apart from that, as you do not have access to the executable to create
built-in commands, your code will be as open to inspection as the official
Stata code.

I want to ask a related question. In Excel for example, you could write a
VBA routine and then password protect it so that people cannot see the
actual program. Is there some way to password protect your stata ado/do
files so that the actual code cannot be viewed?
