I'm the author of fastcd/c.
I named the program "c" because my entire goal was to have a quick way
to change directories, so I wanted the command name to be as short as
possible. It was a long time ago, but I believe that the package on SSC
was named "fastcd" because SSC could not accommodate a one-letter
package name.
The help file should refer to -c- as the command name, not -fastcd-.
I'll fix that.
As for the error, do you have write permission to the directory
"C:\ado\personal"?

Something is weird about the command. -ssc d fastcd- shows that the ado is
called c.ado and consequently resides in another directory...
Type -which c- to see that...

I had an installation problem with fastcd.
In Stata
ssc install fastcd does an install
help fastcd gives information about the fastcd syntax
but
fastcd comes up as an unrecognized command.
When I look in ado/plus/f there is no fastcd.ado file.
I'd appreciate any help fixing the installation.
