As I understand this issue, they do listen in quite attentively, but only
contribute sparsely. So it is not so much that they do not read the post,
but that it is not always clear whether they should act upon it.

you felt posting to Statalist was sufficient.
Statalist isn't "official" to Stata, its hosted externally and whilst
some of Stata's staff are subscribed to Statalist and read and post on
it, its no guarantee that they'll get the posts or even read them.
