In response to Bill Gould's <[email protected]> posting about signing up for
email alerts when StataCorp makes significant announcements, Nick Winter
<[email protected]> asks,
> A question--will all such alerts also appear on Statalist?
Not exactly. Sometimes we will say more on statalist, sometimes we will say
less, and sometimes we will say nothing at all. Some of the alerts could be
construed as promotional and others are interesting only to those in
particular cities or regions, so we do not send them to the list.
We definitely let the list know about new releases. In fact, we tell
statalist members before we tell anyone else. The scientific organizers of
User Group Meetings keep the list well informed. On the other hand, we
generally do not announce public training courses, the availability of the
Stata News, or new books published by Stata Press (though the authors often
send a posting).
I also have a small addendum to Bill's post. In addition to signing up for
alerts at
http://www.stata.com/customerservice/alerts.html.
you can also use the shorter link,
http://www.stata.com/alerts.html
Bill couldn't have known that, it was added just minutes ago.
