The absence of a dialog means no more than that. Neither SSC nor SJ
insist on dialogs in submissions: if either did, the number of
submissions would fall drastically. 

In Stataland, "official" has a bespoke sense of whatever software or
documentation or opinions or mugs or T-shirts emanate from StataCorp.

(To answer the obvious followup: Yes I could work on something but it
wouldn't be official with snazzy dialog box. More crucially, I don't
believe my employer would care like they do about the three
Psychometrika articles I am working on.)
