Thanks Nick!

- shell- is exactly what I need (as I have to wait for results).

As I suspected, I was failing due to a lack of terminology. Being infected by SAS use, I was searching with the term sysexec...

Thanks,
Even

This kind of thing is a little platform-dependent. You don't signal
which platform(s) (operating system(s)) you are using. But otherwise
your question is clear.

A way of doing it is via a shell. See -help shell-.

Windows users can often use -winexec-. See the same place.

If you know the precise name and location of the executable, it's
typically easy.

I want to run an external program (exe-file) from within Stata, but
haven't been able to find any information on how to do it (my search
words may well be wrong due to either lack of terminology or proficiency
in english).

Any hints on Stata and execution of external programs?
