Subject: st: Sen-shorrocks-thon index of poverty intensity
Deal all,
the command "poverty" computes the Thon index of poverty. What is the
main
difference between the Thon index and the Sen-Shorrocks-Thon index of
poverty intensity?
Thanks
Francesca

It's partly simply a matter of normalisation. See p. 320 in Jenkins SP
and Lambert PJ, "Three 'I's of poverty curves, with an analysis of
U.K. poverty trends", Oxford Economic Papers 49(2), July 1997,
317-327, and references therein. There is also a later paper by Lars
Osberg and colleague in the Canadian Journal of Economics which
discusses these indices.
NB TIP curves can be drawn using -glcurve- (use -findit- to get the
latest version).
