As the maintainer of the SSC archive, I do not view the publishing of
these rankings as some sort of competition. The purpose of these
rankings is to provide positive feedback to those who have taken the
time to develop useful add-ons to Stata, and, very importantly,
feedback to StataCorp's developers on the capabilities that users seem
to want as part of official Stata. Over the years, StataCorp has been
quite responsive in its development to users' concerns, expressed here
and at SUG Meetings' Wishes and Grumbles sessions.
