Dear all,
Thanks to Kit Baum, WDIRESHAPE, a new Stata command, is now available
for download from SSC. From within Stata, type in the following:
ssc describe wdireshape
ssc install wdireshape
WDIRESHAPE takes a World Development Indicators (WDI) dataset
downloaded with either series or countries in row and time in column
and reshapes it into a form suitable for immediate panel data,
seemingly unrelated regression, or change analyis. Users provide
variable names of their choosing for the series, and in the reshape
dataset, the WDI series descriptors are attached to the variable names
as Stata labels.
Along with WDIRESHAPE is PAVERAGE, which calculates p-period average
series in a panel dataset (p=2,3,4,.....,10), a common way of
analyzing panel data with large T in order to reduce business-cycle
effects and measurement error.
I presented WDIRESHAPE at SNASUG08 in Chicago.

Enjoy!
