I meant to say user-requests for such a feature come up occasionally.
Labels, column titles, and end-text (addtext) have been added to the
list (for some time now, actually).
It's interesting that you would print outreg2 files instead of log files.
My working paper on outreg2 (link below) describe text files
produced by outreg as a special form of log file with structures
of data file. The technology behind outreg is not outdated at all;
it is an advanced and methodical approach to handling statistical
outputs.
