Thanks to Kit Baum, an update to the -oaxaca- package is available
from the SSC Archive. -oaxaca- is used to compute the Blinder-Oaxaca
decomposition of outcome differentials (i.e. wage gaps by race).
To install the update, type
. ssc install oaxaca, replace
or use the -adoupdate- command.
-oaxaca- was slow if many covariate were specified because -nlcom- was
used to compute the variance-covariance matrix of the decomposition
results. -oaxaca- now has its own implementation of the delta method
based on analytic derivatives and is therefore much faster.
Furthermore, -oaxaca- returned error if subop() was used in the svy()
option. This is fixed.
