I don't know, but I suspect your official Stata installation is corrupt
or incomplete.
Possibly you updated the executable but not the ados, or vice versa.
Type -update query- and see what you get.

I have used the sysuse auto but I get the following warning.
catplot bar foreign rep78
variable __000001 not found
Why the variable is not found?
