st: generate a variable representing correlation

Dear statalisters, 

Can anyone help me with the following? 

For each of the 39 industries and 5 years, I need to generate a variable
representing correlation between TFP and capital and store it in my
dataset.

This doesn't seem to work with egen or gen commands.
