Let us remember, of course, that JSTOR at least is *not* freely
available--universities pay handsomely for access.

I notice that a lot of journals that used to have moving wall are now
available almost immediately. I imagine there was some kind of change
in the economics of payments that made this practical/desirable. My
theory, possibly wrong, is that JSTOR touched off this revolutions where
journals and publishers realized money could be made by making old and
new journal articles available electronically. Sort of like the
scholarly equivalent of the iPod.
