I am attempting to analysis a large dataset (around 1g). I can read the
data in but run out of memory when using xtreg.

When I try to set memory greater than 3g I get error messages, at 4g I get
r(910) 'value too small' and at 5g or more I get r(912) 'value too large'.

I can set the memory in m blocks but only up to 3800m after which I get the
message 'op. sys. refused to provide memory'.

The machine I am running it on is has fedora 7 64bit and 4g of ram. I have
stata-se 9 (32 bit). When I look at ulimit -a there doesn't seem to be any
limitations.

Is there any way of setting more memory than 3800m?

Regards

Mathew
