I found on Rabe-Hesketh & Skrondal, 2006 (http://www.blackwell-synergy.com/doi/pdf/10.1111/j.1467-985X.2006.00426.x) how to fit hierarchical models with survey data with -gllamm-.
As in many examples which I found on the web using -xtmixed-, the student-level outcome is predicted using student-level and school-level covariates.
Is it insane to ask Stata, e.g. to predict school-level number of students passing the math exam (or their percentage on the number of enrolled students) using information about gender and socio-economic status (which, *note*, are known only for a sub-sample of the entire school population)?
If not, can I just write something like (obviously, weights for sampling and non-responding are also needed):
gllamm y_school_level x_school_level x_student_level, i(school)
