A Stata 6 version of -stcmd- was formerly distributed with
Stat/Transfer, and was installed in the user's personal ado directory by
the Stat/Transfer Install Wizard if the user wanted it, in versions up
to and including Stat/Transfer 8. However, when I got my Stat/Transfer 9
upgrade earlier this month, the Wizard did not ask me if I wanted to
install -stcmd-, although an early version of the Stata package -stcmd-
was present on the CD-ROM, together with the -stcmd- SAS macro which I
also wrote many years ago. If Stat/Transfer want to distribute a version
of the new Stata 9 -stcmd-, then they are more than welcome to do so.
A little quirk to be aware of: without asking, Stat/Transfer 9
apparently installs the old versions of Roger's programs in
c:\personal\ado. As a result, they take precedence over the newer
versions of Roger's programs if you have installed them. You have to
delete them from c:\personal\ado in order for the new versions to
work. I don't know if you will have to do this every time there is a
patch to st9 or not. (I keep thinking Roger's programs are broken,
but they are not! There a just a few little quirks with ST9 you need
to be aware of.)
