I implemented Scott's suggested technique, which improved the appearance of the set of graphs but was not an exact solution (you can
still see differences in allotted space). I suspect this has to do with the way StataCorp allocates space for letters of different
size. The right solution seems to be a new option by StataCorp to allow exact specification of the space to be used by labels.
