Re: st: Pscore and balancing: perseverance
Dear Statalist and Ricardo,
For those of you who are interested to know about balancing, I wanted to let
you know that it takes some perseverance to balance. In my opinion there are
two ways that one can achieve it. The first is to start off with a few
variables and see if you can add more that make sense until you have
exhausted all possibilities to balance. The second approach is to start off
with a not so parsimonious specification and then cut down on those
variables that do not balance.
I found the first approach to be easier than the second one, so I would
recommend it as does the literature to start off with a few variables.

Dear Ricardo,
Yes, I do care about the balancing property. I am still trying with pscore
and am also looking at psmatch2 where I use -pstest-to look at the test of
means for each of my covariates. The trial is not over and I will keep you
informed (it might take me a couple of days as I have various treatment
groups to investigate in pscore and psmatch2).
