Dear All,

I am a new Stata user. Apologies if this question is
rather basic.

I am using Stata 9.2 on a Windows Machine.

My data look as follow:

hp15	hgente	hrenglon	state	county	loca
29	3	1	ca	1	1
25	.	.	.	.
3	.	.	.	.	.
28	3	1	ca	1	1
27	.	.	.	.
1	.	.	.	.	.
23	2	1	il	6	1
16	.	.	.	.	.
26	4	1	il	6	1
22	.	.	.	.	.
6	.	.	.	.	.
4	.	.	.	.	.
23	3	1	tx	6	1
20	.	.	.	.	.
2	.	.	.	.	.

Now, I want to 'fill' some of the missing data cells
for the variables 'state', 'county' and 'loc'. For
example, I want my second and third respondents to
score 'ca' under state, instead of '.'

How can I achieve this? (I had never worked with a
file that had both household level data and individual
level data).

Thanks for helping a novice like me.

Sincerely,

Sbrinjy.
