Helpful answers are difficult on this information.
Guessing is easy:

1. I doubt that this is anything specific to -xtabond-.

2. You must look carefully at the data you specified to
-xtabond-. Perhaps you have lots of missing values somewhere
or some variable that should be numeric is really string.
Use -describe-, -summarize- and if necessary -destring-.

I am trying to run the xtabond command on stata, but stata responds with 
"no observations".
The data is from the Penn World Tables, using 5 year averages.
Time and Panel variable have been defined!
