Hi,

If you exit without saving then all changes you made will be lost and the
file on your hard disk will be preserved as it is.

Remember Stata reads the file into mem and if you need to make any changes
you have made permanent you have to save it.

OK. So preserving would make sure that the original data stored on my disk 
is not affected permanently even after accepting changes when existing the 
data editor?
