Is not cross-platform: does not work on Macintosh versions of Stata.

On my monitor (17" LCD) there is quite a lot of blank space in the
toolbar and the status bar. It would seem to be a good place to have
the option to list: (1) the current working directory (as it does
now in the status bar), (2) the active Stata datafile, (3) any
currently open file IO (log, file, etc.). My preference would be an
option (preference) to list any or all three of those pieces of
information. (Personally, I don't find the tiny "log open" indicator
at the bottom of the results window very useful.) And that it be
cross-platform.
I guess that should go on *my* wishlist -- which, from teaching a
course that made extensive use of Stata last spring, now stands a
good dozen items long. Maybe I'll clean it up at the beginning of
next semester and forward it to the list. Seasons greetings!
