Quantiles are definitely a good example. Actually, if you think about
it standardized variables are often interpreted in terms of quartiles
(with the added assumption that the distribution of that variable is
normal): a standardized score of 2 standard deviations above the mean
is high because less then 2.5% have that value or more under normality.
