st: -adoupdate- questions
In my list of installed ado packages (given by the -adoupdate-
command), I noticed the following duplication:
[22] dpredict at http://fmwww.bc.edu/repec/bocode/d:
installed package is up to date
[23] dpredict at http://repec.org/bocode/d:
installed package is up to date
1. Should I be concerned that the same package, from two different
sources, is purportedly installed on my computer? Should I get rid
of one of them?
2. If I wanted to get rid of one, which is the one I should keep?
That is, is one source (B.C. vs. RePEc) the preferred repository?
3. If I wanted to get rid of one, how do I specify the one to
delete? Typing -ssc uninstall dpredict- returns the error message:
criterion matches more than one package
r(111);
whereas -which dpredict- only finds one instance (which I suspect is
how it is supposed to behave: it lists the first occurrence in my
adopath[*]). Perhaps that is because there is only one occurrence
(as the second install overwrote the first)[+], but -adoupdate- and -
ssc- seem nonetheless to be confused. Suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.
[*] In case it affects -adoupdate- or -ssc-, my adopath is modified
in my profile.do:
[1] (UPDATES) "/Applications/Stata/ado/updates/"
[2] (BASE) "/Applications/Stata/ado/base/"
[3] (SITE) "/Volumes/PCSOFT/Data Analysis/Stata/
shared_programs/"
[4] "."
[5] (PERSONAL) "/Library/Application Support/Stata/ado/personal/"
[6] (PLUS) "/Library/Application Support/Stata/ado/plus/"
[7] (OLDPLACE) "/Library/Application Support/Stata/ado/"
[+] In the shell, 'find / -name "dpredict.ado" -print 2> /dev/null'
returns only a single instance: '/Library/Application Support/Stata/
ado/plus/d/dpredict.ado'.
