Below is a position announcement for a statistician. Please pass on to

Senior Statistician: The State University of New York at Buffalo; The
Research Institute on Addictions (RIA) at the State University of New York
at Buffalo, a national leader in the study of alcohol and substance abuse,
is seeking candidates for a research scientist with expertise in
statistics. This position is a permanent (comparable to tenured) New York
State Civil Service Research Scientist position and may be filled at
either a junior or senior level, depending on qualifications. The
candidate would be expected to work collaboratively with other RIA
research scientists in the development of grant submissions (particularly
sections concerning design, data analyses, and statistical power) and to
provide consultation and assistance in data analyses for ongoing research
projects. The candidate would also assist in the development of
workshops/symposia to advance the overall statistical expertise of RIA.
Candidates with research interests in statistics or in other substantive
areas would be provided protected time for these pursuits.
Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics, or
in any Social or Health Science field (e.g., Psychology, Sociology,
Economics, Epidemiology), and relevant postdoctoral experience. Candidates
must have expertise and practical experience with advanced statistical
techniques applicable for longitudinal studies and clinical trials (e.g.,
Structural Equation and Linear Growth Modeling, Multilevel Modeling,
Survival Analyses) and statistical issues (e.g., addressing missing data,
power analyses, testing mediation and moderation). Excellent oral and
written communication skills are essential and experience in collaborative
research is preferred.
