Most weighted composite indexes would I think be produced
by some kind of -generate- command, although depending on
complexity you might want to break calculations into a sequence.
It would then be up to you to decide whether and how to use any weights.
That is, you would need to implement a formula as follows
gen myweightedindex = ...
with all the details on the RHS.
If this doesn't answer your question, you may need to give
an example of what you want to do.

Can anyone tell me the command structure for creating a weighted
composite index?
Also, if weights are not attached, does Stata use a default
(eg. equal weights for all components of the index)?
