Bowing to popular demand, J. Scott Long has now made his programs
adoupdate-friendly. That should help avoid problems like this in the
future.
Repeating a suggestion I made in some other thread, if you are going to
offer programs from your own site, it is a very good idea to make the
trivial tweaks (i.e. including the distribution dates in your pkg files)
that will let your programs work with adoupdate. (Incidentally, I notice
that several of my installed routines that do not follow this advice are
from www.stata.com! e.g. the old Stataquest routines.)
