Thanks to Kit Baum, an update to the -kdens- package
is available from the SSC Archive.
-kdens- computes kernel density estimates.
To install the update, type
. ssc install kdens, replace
If you install/update -kdens-, you should also
install/update -moremata-. Type
. ssc install moremata, replace
There are lots of changes. The most important of them are:
o -kdens- now always uses a binned approximation
estimator. The binned estimator is much faster than
the standard estimator in large datasets.
o -kdens- now has internal bootstrap and jackknife
routines for variance and confidence interval
estimation.
o A third method for boundary correction has been added
(the linear combination method).
