I recently came across an alternative discussion of suggestions for
"Getting Answers" that, while formally aimed at programers, arguably is
written for the "second-tier" and "third-tier" users identified earlier
in this thread. It has a number of useful suggestions from the
perspective of a person asking for help; summarizing the ones that
appear most relevant and important to Statalist:
1. Explain what doesn't work
2. Provide everything up-front
3. Post your code
4. Do your research beforehand
7. Don't post the same question repeatedly
9. Treat the list like people
The link is <http://www.mikeash.com/getting_answers.html>. Hope some
folks here find the discussion there of use.
