thanks to kit baum, an update to the -hlm- package is available from the
SSC archive.

To install the update, type

 . ssc install hlm, replace

-hlm- is a set of stata commands that serve as a stata-user interface to
the multilevel modeling program HLM (written by steve raudenbush and
colleagues).  the -hlm- commands allow stata users to run HLM from
within Stata.  the primary change in the new version of -hlm- is that
the command is now compatible with -estout- (thanks ben jann for help
here), and reads the output produced by HLM into stored matrices,
macros, and scalars in Stata (type -ereturn list- after running -hlm- to
see what is saved.

note: to use the -hlm- commands, you must have HLM v.6 installed in your
computer, and must have the directory of the HLM program set in your
PATH command.
