Check my original message -- you used the wrong type of brackets. You
needed to use {} and not (). In this situation, it would work without any
brackets

With this all I got was a file named comlog$(S_DATE).txt
I then tried
Cmdlog using "D:\statalogs\comlog($S_DATE)" and it worked fine.
