st: new SSC package -distrate-
Dear Stata Users,
thanks to Kit Baum, a new package called -distrate- is available from
the SSC Archive.
To install the package, type
.ssc install distrate
-distrate- estimates directly standardized rates and confidence
intervals based on the gamma distribution as proposed by Fay and
Feuer. This method produces valid confidence intervals even when the
number of cases is very small. So it is usually recommended.
Optionally Dobson et al. confidence intervals are also displayed.
Data must be in aggregate form, i.e. each record must contain the
total number of deaths (or events) and population for each age stratum.
The results are returned in matrices and can be saved in a file.
The help file is provided by an example from the web site of The
Public Health Disparities Geocoding Project Monograph
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/thegeocodingproject/webpage/monograph/case%20example.htm
Hope could be useful.
