My -mktab- also has a -latex- option, to transform the output of
estimates into LaTeX tabels.

You might want to take a look at -outtable- (ssc desc outtable) in
this regard. It presumes that what you want in a table you already
have in a matrix, but that is a common setup for organizing
materials. Also note that estout can produce LaTeX tables of
descriptive statistics with a little trick documented in the help file.
