It is useful when you write ado-file instead of do-files, since you as a user will only see the
results after the program has run, and so the tempvars will have dissapeared by then. It can also
be useful in do-files to ensure that you don't forget to delete variables. Some may find that it
leads to more transparent code since it clearly points to which variables are only temporary, but
tastes here probably differ.
