I'm pretty sure you can only use one font for the whole graph, so it would be tough to use wingding characters unless you had no other text in the graph (unlikely). However, there are some font-editing programs out there that may let you change some characters in an existing font. I haven't gone down this road yet, but it may be possible to add your favorite wingdings into some other font to replace characters that are seldom used with something you want.

Thanks very much, Michael & Nick, for your suggestions. This idea of exploiting the graph font is intriguing. But if you wanted a Wingding font symbol for a marker, it sounds like you're stuck with the Wingding font for all the graph's text as well. Is that right? Or is it possible to change fonts within a graph?

Thanks again,

Eric
