Thanks to Kit Baum, an update of -akdensity- is available on the SSC
archive.
-akdensity- is for adaptive kernel density estimation and is described
in st0037 - Stata Journal 3(2). Ben Jann reported that the -gauss-
option was not effective when used with Stata 8 and above. The optional
variablility bands were also overestimated for the Epanechnikov kernel.
These problems are fixed with this update. One new option is available
to use the "Alternative Epanechnikov" kernel as in -kdensity- (see
[R]kdensity).
This update has been submitted for a "software update" in a future issue
of the Stata Journal, but in the meantime it is advised to install the
package available on SSC:
ssc install akdensity , replace
