Thanks James! The problem is that Stata only allocates 250Mb, I checked
the amount of RAM in my computer and there is 1 Gb. For values of "set
memory" higher than 250m stata returns the message "system refuses to
provide memory". I tried to close all the programs, but it didn't work
out. I heard someone saying that this problem concerns windows XP, which
allocates memory in small blocks, honestly I didn't understand it! If
there is another way of allocating memory it would be of great help.
