There are various small and large problems here:

1. Please supply informative titles for your postings.

2. In any recent Stata [sic],

. findit hotdeck

should point to several items. If, as in your case,
you have not yet installed -hotdeck-, then clicking on
-hotdeck- within the text

(help hotdeck if installed)

will do no good, if that is what you are doing.

4. The most recent -hotdeck- appears to be that on the SSC site
and so should be installed using -ssc-.

4. -hotdeck- and -micombine- are totally different programs,
based on quite different principles and by quite
different people.

5. A useful brief comment on methods for handling missing data seems hardly possible in the face of a large literature, which your
thorough reading of Allison's monograph will have indicated.

Can someone tell me how to install -Hotdec- in STATA 9.0?
When I type "findit hotdec", I get a page for "micombine"
and others with "hotdeck", but while I click hotdeck, the
program says it is not found. Instead, micombine and others
are found.
Is "micombine" the same as hotdec? I would also appreciate
someone's comment in handling with missing values. I have
read Allison thoroughly, and he commented that hotdec is the
most used technique in this regard, although it has some
problems.
