You should try the partial gamma, which will give you a weighted over
strata estimate of correlation.

the partial gamma coefficient is a weighted summary version of gamma
across subtabes of the Goodman & Kruskal's gamma coefficient. A test of
homogeneity of stratified gamma's is applied also in partgam.ado made by
Svend kreiner and I.
