Hello All

Thanks to Kit Baum, there is now a new version of the -lincomest- package available for download from SSC. In Stata, use the -ssc- command to do this.

The -lincomest- package is described as below on my website, and can be used with -parmest- and/or -estout-. The new version is in Stata 8. It adds the new estimation results e(N_strata), e(N_psu), e(deff), e(deft) and e(meft), which are saved if -lincomest- is called after a -svy- command, and correspond to the -r()- results of the same names returned by -lincom- and documented in -[SVY] lincom for svy-. Stata 7 users can still download the final Stata 7 version of -lincomest- from my website from within Stata by typing

net from http://www.kcl-phs.org.uk/rogernewson/stata7

and selecting -lincomest-.

I would like to thank Richard Williams again for alerting me to various features of -lincom- after -svy- commands under Stata Versions 8 and 9.

Best wishes

Roger

TITLE
lincomest: Extension to lincom saving the combination as estimation results

DESCRIPTION/AUTHOR(S)
lincomest is an extended version of lincom, which calculates confidence
intervals and P-values for linear combinations of model coefficients.
lincomest saves the estimate and variance of the linear combination as
estimation results, with the option of saving any existing estimation results
to be recalled by estimates restore or _estimates unhold. The advantage of
doing this is that the linear combination can be input to parmest or parmby
to create an output dataset (or resultsset) with one observation, containing
a confidence interval and P-value for the linear combination. This data set
can be concatenated with other parmest or parmby resultssets using dsconcat,
and the confidence intervals and/or P-values can then be plotted and/or
tabulated.
