st: statsby again

After having learned quiet a lot from Nick W. telling me the trick

. statsby "ktau x y " TauB=r(tau_b) P=r(p) , by(z) saving(myfile)

for STATA 8 I am now trying something like

. statsby "count" c=r("???"), by(x y z) saving(myfile)

Well, I've seen the ktau.ado file... but there is no count.ado to check what "???" could be. Any hints?
