Dear Hans (and Chris):
The use of the command -estimates- is in reality the first step before the -estout- command. With -estout-, there is no need to copy the output tables in excel as the table is produced as a tab-delimited (very clean) file.
Best regards

Dear Hans,
I used outreg as well to generate regression tables and there were also
some weird things happening. Now I'm using the "estimates save 'model1'"
and "estimates table 'model1' 'model2'..." commands, which work very well
and provide almost all options available in the outreg commands. You then
just copy the estimates table output as table and paste it in excel or
something comparable...
Best,
Chris
